Botox Level I Training Courses

The level I training course focuses on but is not limited to Crows Feet, Glabellar Line, Frontalis, and Procerus injections.

Dentists and nurses quickly become skilled facial aesthetic clinicians because they have a strong working knowledge of regional head and neck anatomy and expert fine motor skills with injections.

This course trains a maximum of 20 dentists and nurses. By limiting course size to 20 dentists and nurses, we are able to personally train every registered dentist and nurse, review all curriculum and exceed training requirements.

Anatomy, Pharmacology, Dilution, Patient Selection, Billing, Advertising, & More

The course begins with a thorough review of craniofacial anatomy, Botox pharmacology, and Botox dilution and preparation. Patient selection and consultation training precedes the live injection practicum. The course summary will train dentist how to bill, advertise, and how to host Botox events.

This level one course produces confident practitioners that can integrate the following most common Botox injections into their practice:

Headaches, Dental TMJ & Chronic Pain Therapy & More

While Botox is most commonly thought of as a cosmetic treatment, it was originally developed by a dentist for medical treatment. Over the years it has become the first line treatment of choice for a number of medical/neurological conditions. The course will also review the use of Botox for treatment of headache and orofacial pain disorders such as Temporal Mandibular Dysfunction, migraine, and chronic daily headache. Comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of headache disorders as they are encountered in a practice will be covered to provide the expertise needed to safely incorporate headache treatment into a practice.

Each trainee must complete and demonstrate proficiency in the following objectives:

  • Perform patient assessment and consultation for botulinum toxin (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport
  • Understand indications and contraindications for these pharmaceutical agents
  • Complete In depth instruction in the anatomy, neurophysiology, musculature and circulatory system of the oral and maxillofacial areas
  • Complete Patient assessments for the best dental and facial esthetic and therapeutic outcomes
  • Complete a review of sterile technique as it relates to the use of injectable pharmacologic agents
  • Know the safety and risk issues for botulinum toxin
  • Learn the physiology and pharmacology of oral and maxillo-facial injectable treatment
  • Integrating botulinum neurotoxin into therapeutic and esthetic treatment plans
  • Learn the best treatment techniques including anatomical muscle sites, muscle depths, proper preparation and dilution for the best oral and maxillofacial therapeutic and esthetic outcomes
  • Learn botulinium toxin therapeutic treatment for bruxism to relieve TMJ syndrome
  • Know how to avoid, manage, and treat possible adverse reactions and complications
  • Complete live patient training including comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning, proper dosing and delivery of botulinum neurotoxin
  • Understand proper fee structures for oral and maxillofacial injectable treatment
  • Completion of office documentation and informed consents
  • Complete individual and comprehensive mentored instruction from a board certified physician as you work hands-on with your patient

  • The AFA  is the facial aesthetics division of the Academy of Dental and Medical Anesthesia
  • The ADMA is an ADA CERP nationally approved CE provider with a current ADA CERP provider status

 

Staff

The course is taught by a field expert.  You will receive individualized instruction by a clinicians with 25 years of experience Facial Aesthetics.  This course is directed by our physician anesthesiologists with years of clinical experience using Botox for boutique private plastic surgery centers. Additional clinical staff includes surgeons, dentists and nurses that have over a decade of experience incorporating Botox into their private practice. Each department chair is currently active at the university level teaching as an attending.

This course will also review the use of Botox for treatment of headache and orofacial pain disorders such as Temporal Mandibular Dysfunction, migraine, and chronic daily headache.   • How to identify and diagnose facial pain patients in your practice
  • Comprehensive patient examination and evaluation including a maxillofacial neurological exam, an otic exam, and a thorough head and neck muscle examination

The ACTA encourages trainees to combine and complete Botox training and Filler training during the same training weekend.


The courses, when completed together, enhance the clients understanding of facial anatomy, morphology, volume, and contours. Combined Botox and Filler techniques are taught when both courses are taken.  This technique broadens the facial aesthetic scope of the new practitioner.

FILLER CLINICAL PRACTICUM OVERVIEW

Live Filler Injection Practicum: Volumizing nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lifting up the corners of the mouth using anatomical landmarks.  Learn to provide subtle lip enhancements by adding volume to establish proper lip and smile lines.  Become proficient in smoothing lip lines and eliminating vertical “smokers” lines.  Professionally manage  tear troughs and cheek volume.
